Google Lens Testing and Certification in Google GMS
I. What is Google Lens?
Google Lens, also known as Google Smart Lens, uses a phone's camera to search and recognize the world around you. When you point your phone's camera at an object, Google Lens attempts to identify it and display relevant search results and information. For example, if you point your camera at a flower, it will provide search results indicating what type of flower it is and other related links from the internet. In addition to recognition and search functions, Google Lens also offers real-time translation and can help with solving homework.
II. Is Google Lens a mandatory test item for Google GMS certification?
Google Lens is not a mandatory test item in GMS certification. It only applies to mobile devices that need to include the Google Lens feature. If a device requires Google Lens, this additional test must be performed, but certification cannot be limited to just this test alone.
III. How to use Google Lens?
Google Lens is not limited to Android devices; iOS devices can also use it. iOS users can download and install the [Google] app from the App Store to access Google Lens. Most Android devices already have the Google app pre-installed, and you can use Google Lens by simply opening the app and clicking on the camera icon.
IV. Google Lens certification process and timeline
1. Confirm the business cooperation contract.
2. Provide 2-3 sample devices.
3. We conduct pre-testing, and after passing the pre-test, formal testing begins.
4. Once Google approves, the device can be preloaded with Google Lens for shipment.
The testing process for Google Lens alone typically takes about two weeks. However, devices cannot undergo only this test; they must first pass GMS certification before the Google Lens test can be conducted.
